The Naked and Famous are a New Zealand post-punk revival band from Auckland. They formed in 2008 when Thom Powers and Alisa Xayalith recorded two EPs with engineer Aaron Short, a fellow student at Auckland's MAINZ music college. The EPs were subsequently released on a local independent label and Powers and Xayalith began performing live with Ben Knapp (bass) and Jordan Clark (drums).. "All of This" and "The Sun" were featured in the 4th and 19th episode of The Secret Circle.. "Punching in a Dream" was featured in season 2 episode 5 of The Vampire Diaries, season 1 episode 7 of "World of Jenks, and in the eleventh season of Degrassi.
