I Wanna Be Like Michael Jackson was formed in 2004 in Louisville, Kentucky by singer, songwriter Mark Williams and guitarist Amy Hoffmann. They began with informal jam sessions on Hoffmann’s front porch. During these sessions, Hoffmann paired simple but affecting blues riffs and folk changes with Williams’ free-form lyrics, which often told stories from his day and his dreams while incorporating references to American pop media.
